Business and Industry Today are awarding the Company of the Month Award to Nene Warehouse Solutions. Their core service offering is the supply, installation, and maintenance of storage equipment. A well-organised racking system is essential for quick dispatching and a seamless, streamlined distribution service, and Nene offers customers unrivalled storage solutions with exceptional aftercare support.
Nene Warehouse Solutions are a multi-award-winning family-run company, with over 100 years of design consultancy experience. This Northampton company dazzled at the SME 2022 Northampton Business Awards, winning Family Business of the Year and Website of the Year awards. Recently also won two awards at the Northampton Logistics Awards, one being for Health & Safety Wellbeing. The last financial year was phenomenal for sales revenue, with a £35 million turnover, with continued exponential growth expected over the next five years. The company has doubled in numbers due to increased service demand. Aaron Shepherd, Nene’s Business Development Manager, lets us in on some of the secrets to the company’s success, “Nene Warehouse Solutions is part of The Nene Group, which owns an extensive warehouse property portfolio. We are firstly, and foremost a family-run business with a proven track record for looking after our staff and customers. We have an extensive base of over 5,000 customers, a nationwide team of over 200 accredited engineers, and a distribution facility dispatching to companies all over the UK and mainland Europe. We are the largest stockist of pallet racking in the UK – our head office, production, and distribution facility are now at 345,000 sq. ft, and our current stock holding sits at £2.5 million.” Some of Nene’s high-profile customers include Swedish retail giants IKEA, and the global online sensation, Amazon, highlighting supporting SMEs is also as important.
We offer unscripted advice to all customers, providing the best solutions. Our model for design, supply, installation, inspection, and maintenance allows us to work with businesses of all sizes. Some of our clients may require just consultancy for a project to help them prepare a return-on-investment plan, and others, just a routine quote for maintenance. Allowing our clients to have the flexibility to use our products, services, and solutions that best fit their business requirements.”
Nene is an Elite member of CHAS and Alcumus SafeContractor, and all installation and inspection engineers are SEMA and CSCS approved. This offers high-quality reassurance and full audit compliance to all new and existing clients. The health and safety thread runs through to the dedicated after-sales department. The team focuses on four fundamental areas: client compliance with racking safety, HSE-guided inspections, rectification quotes, and audit reports following inspections and maintenance.
The after-sales services team plays a key supporting role for the Turnkey Solutions division, which launched latterly in 2020. This division offers a full warehouse fit-out service, including the complete supply and installation of lighting, water sprinklers, office space, storage equipment, and heating and ventilation. Nene Warehouse Solutions can even offer sustainably recycled components, as Sharon O’Connor, Group Compliance Manager exemplifies, “Nene goes beyond just the usual reduced utility bills and recycling. We are embedding sustainability across all areas of the business. We are moving to the paperless office, using an audit tracker tool. Recently installed 164 solar panels at our head office and now have fifteen electric company cars for our busy sales teams. Our engineers use digitised technology on the road for real-time updates, and with smart, light technology, our offices utilise solar energy and save on electricity. We recycle our damaged racking components for customers, saving on landfill and looking after the planet. We recently won The Environmental and Sustainability Award for our commitment to becoming a greener business.”
During March, there will be a soft launch of a new e-commerce website, featuring up to 3,000 products ranging from shelving, and pump trucks, to pick bins and lockers – all payable through PayPal. Through the parent company Nene Group, customers also will be able to manage entire property racking compliance electronically. With a built-in rack asset management feature, clients will have access to an inventory of individual items in their warehouse, all at the touch of a button, as Aaron elaborates, “With sustainability at the forefront of so many business practices and set only to become more so, this feature enables multi-site businesses to identify and re-locate resources accordingly.”
New territory for 2023 also sees Nene Warehouse Solutions employing a Head of Automation as we head further into the digital age, with greater demand for automated solutions.”
