Samskip UK operations play a vital part in this network, furthering the company’s market leading sustainable transport solutions reach through a range of services that integrate sea, barge, rail and road. With direct own services to the North Continent, Iberia, the Baltics and Scandinavia, Samskip’s UK operations offer a door-to-door capability supported by own assets and border services that seamlessly secure your supply chains.
More recently, Samskip has introduced a new cross-docking facility in Spain. Located in the port of Santander, the 1,000 sq. m. facility is based just 5 minutes from the terminal where all vessels operate enabling rapid loading and unloading, reducing transit times for customers.
This new facility is designed to optimise operations for palletised cargo – both dry and reefer pure cross-docking – delivering faster, more efficient service to customers. It enables seamless handling of complex logistics while providing quicker access to the hinterland, where rail connections are still evolving.
Furthermore, this strategic expansion has strengthened Samskip’s presence in a key region with significant growth potential. As the business continues to grow, the facility’s capacity is expected to expand accordingly, ensuring long-term value for customers. Looking ahead, Samskip plans to enhance the facility’s capabilities to accommodate all types of cargo, including out-of-gauge shipments, and will soon install fixed loading docks to further streamline operations.
