Innovative company goes electric, helping solve mounting global waste problem

As we continue to showcase companies who are leading the field in their industry, we are proud in this issue of Sustainability Today to have selected Terex Ecotec as the recipient of our Industry Excellence Award.

As global waste continues to increase exponentially, with a projected increase of 70% over the next 30 years, Terex Ecotec is at the forefront of “Making Waste Work.” The company states “recycling is our DNA” and offers a complete mobile recycling solution supporting a circular economy by reducing waste to landfill, turning waste into greener fuels, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

2023 marks the 10th Anniversary of Terex Ecotec, a recognised innovative industry powerhouse in the design and manufacture of mobile recycling equipment. An exceptional, extensive industrial product portfolio includes slow, medium and high-speed shredders, trommel and recycling screens, waste handlers, metal separator and conveyors. All the machines are robust and user-friendly, with meticulous attention given to throughput, efficiency and serviceability. Terex Ecotec provides equipment for recycling, biomass and waste processing industries. Applications include waste wood/biomass, green waste, construction and demolition waste, commercial and industrial waste and municipal solid waste.

Gemma McKay, Marketing Manager for Terex Ecotec, added, “We have realised our ambition to be an industry leader in the recycling market. The best is yet to come!”

Terex Ecotec was established in 2013, as part of the wider Terex Materials Processing Group. Terex MP has a distinguishable business portfolio supplying equipment to the minerals processing, environmental, concrete, material handling and lifting industries. Terex MP is a truly global group with manufacturing provisions and offices across four continents: North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and a dedicated customer sales and distribution network covering 130 countries.

Throughout its 10 years in business Terex Ecotec has established a global presence and today has over 45 distribution partners around the world, with the number set to continue to rise.

Expanding recently into Norway, Agder Anleggsenter AS is now the official distribution partner for the Terex Ecotec’s full range of mobile recycling equipment.

Richard Lavery, Terex Ecotec’s regional sales manager for Norway, said, “We are delighted to welcome Agder Angleggsenter AS into our dealer network and to represent our class leading recycling equipment in Norway. Terex Ecotec has had a cutting-edge manufacturing site in Campsie, Northern Ireland for the design and manufacturing of products since 2019. The facility was part of a huge £12m long-term investment by the company. The manufacturing of heavy equipment for waste management and recycling and conveyors is housed in this 105,000ft2 site. The site was expanded further in 2020 with the completion of a large capacity shed. The expanded 30,000ft2, with high lifting capabilities, manufacturers bulk material handling and product stockpiling equipment. In 2022, the final stage was completed with an additional 30,000ft2 shed.

With a world class parts facility located in Dungannon, Northern Ireland offering automated storage and retrieval systems, barcode scanning and a full onsite inventory of parts, Terex Ecotec is ideally placed to further expand its winning portfolio.

Tony Devlin, Business Line Director for Terex Ecotec, elaborated further, “The investment of this size in a new facility will help us increase our foothold in the recycling and waste management sector and ensure that we continue to push boundaries in the global market. It is an exciting development for Terex Ecotec, and we look forward to the new facility playing an instrumental part of our growth and success.”

After a long hiatus following COVID-19, Terex Ecotec has started returning to trade shows in Europe and the UK, firstly IFAT: the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management in Munich, Germany.
